Introduction

The Ophthalmology Interest Group at the University of Virginia School of Medicine serves as a resource for medical students interested in pursuing a career in Ophthalmology.

Missions and Goals

The purpose of our organization is to introduce medical students to the field of Ophthalmology and its subspecialties, including Retina, Glaucoma, Neuro-op, Cornea, and Oculoplastics. Faculty from several of these disciplines will give presentations about their clinical practice as well as their research interests.

Through this website, we provide links to information for students considering a career in Ophthalmology. We also would like to provide educational resources for medical students rotating in Ophthalmology.  Finally, our goal is to introduce students to faculty for shadowing and research opportunities.

Please email Steve Houston with any comments or suggestions! Thanks!
